Area Environments Wallcovering

I have found a new favorite wallpaper company to join my many, many favorites! Area Environments creates custom wallcoverings specifically sized to a wall or space. This gives the resulting paper a wonderful, mural-like feeling. Look at how painterly and unique their designs are!

I am so eager to use some of their designs in a project! If you like what you see, give me a call... maybe we can find a spot in your home for some beautiful, painterly murals!

The Playful Wallcoverings of Abnormals Anonymous

One of my very favorite wallcovering manufacturers is Abnormals Anonymous. There’s something undeniably joyful about the offerings from this company that was founded by the duo known only as Henrietta and Paco. Their studio was born out of a serendipitous meeting in a hotel elevator, and their work continues to celebrate life’s little surprises with humor, whimsy, and a distinct design sensibility. In fact they list "Delight" as one of their Core Values. And I have always been delighted by their designs but in particular one called Bruce, showing a whale skeleton freely gliding through the waves.

So I was truly delighted when a client allowed me to hang it in a powder room of his coastal home (seen here)...he is a surfer after all and is used to sharing his waves!

Another equally whimsical design is the fabulous Buggy. An interlocking repetition of a beetle creates a chevron effect. It would be fun in a powder room, but how about in a mudroom, or even a dining room above a wainscot? it is available in either a light or dark ground, but also printed in gold or copper metallic!

And another whimsical animal...Mr. Blow puffs his way across walls in this wallcovering that comes in white, sepia, blue, or teal grounds, and an optional antiqued silver or gold metallic print!

They offer some wonderful visual textures as well! Made in collaboration with Seattle artist Anna Redmond, Flashdance originated from a hand-drawn pattern. Its flow and energy could fit in a multitude of spaces and is available in many colors as well as, yes, a metallic print which would look amazing in a dining room at night.

There are so many more great patterns to choose from but I will close with this fun option: a rainshower of popcorn! King of Pop is a large scale print while Pop It Like It's Hot is a smaller scale. Use anywhere you might need a little "pop!" (Ha, see what I did there...."pop"...yeah, I know.)

If you're craving some delight and fun in your life, give me a call, we can see how we bring some pop!

Wallpaper Obsession: Calico Wallpaper

My new wallpaper obsession: Calico Wallpaper, not to be confused with the chain of fabric stores called Calico, is a wallpaper manufacturer started by Rachel and Nick Cope in New York. Their designs are marvelous. And I really love their collaboration with English lighting and furniture designer Lee Broom who created a dramatic, swagged, draped image. Just gorgeous...

This is a pattern called Eden, shown in Ginger, Hyacinth, and Mulberry colorways (additional colorways available).

Atmosphere feels like clouds and fog...here it is in Dusk, Lustre, and Moonlight.

This delightful pattern of artisan-drawn faces is Muse. Available in many colorways but shown here in Ada, Coco, and Simone.

Souvenirs and objects from around the world are the focus of Particulaire. Colors; Bazaar, Memento, and Origin (others available).

I love the sweet Impressionist landscape in pastel crayon of Memoir. The colorways Canopy, Expanse, and Wind really shift the feeling...

New Patterns From Porter Teleo

One of my favorite wallcovering companies, Porter Teleo (previously here) who make exquisite handmade and hand painted products, has several exciting new patterns to choose from!

Inspired by a walk in the South of France, AMITIÉ is a large scale botanical print that features branches adorned with abstracted blossoms of alpine rose, orange blossoms, and silver wattle. It comes in three colorways: Argent, Bleu, and Copper.

The sinuous forms of ECHO reference the wire sculptures of Ruth Asawa. Available in four colorways: Blush, Copper, Polished Bronze, and Zinc.

Representing human touch, botanical life, dreams, and the essence of artistic composition, the symbols of SIGNATURE reference the origins of Porter Teleo and the brand's core values of humanity, nature, and aesthetic individualism. In Cadmium, Creme, Noir, and Verdatre.

And finally, IN THE WILD is a striking, complicated pattern reminiscent of dynamic flowers, leaf-like abstractions, oversized shells, and curiously playful shapes which comes in Brown Umber, Cadmium Red, Graphite, and Ultramarine.

If you're interested in discovering these or any of the other beautiful Porter Teleo patterns, reach out to me so we can craft a magical, artistic environment together.
